The Wedding Edition hosted an enchanting luncheon on Tuesday, the 4th of June, at the illustrious Jumeirah Carlton Tower. Nestled in the heart of London mere steps from Sloane Street, it was a stunning escape amidst the city’s hustle and bustle. With floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the verdant Cadogan Gardens, it provided the perfect backdrop for this show-stopping gathering with Jo Malone London.
The guest list sparkled with familiar faces, including Ollie and Gareth Locke, Anita Amini, Chessie King and her newly engaged sister Brontë King, Francesca Newman-Young, Rosana Chloe Lai, Aimée Kelly, and many more. The afternoon promised a sensory journey, delving into the art of styling with scent.
This special Styling with Scent luncheon was led by The Wedding Edition’s contributing beauty editor, Bandi Manzini, alongside Jo Malone London’s fragrance and lifestyle expert, Emma South. Together, they unravelled the secrets to choosing the perfect wedding day scent. Emma South’s gorgeous sense of self and her unbounded personality and insights were a highlight, offering invaluable advice on how to harmonise fragrance with the overall wedding atmosphere.
Florist extraordinaire and wedding and events designer Helen from Lavender Green shared her expertise on ensuring that floral arrangements enhance and complement the chosen scents. She illustrated how certain flowers can elevate Jo Malone London’s fragrances, creating a cohesive and enchanting sensory experience for any wedding reception. Louisa from Maison Margaux then took the stage to discuss the art of tablescaping with her tips on incorporating Jo Malone London’s fragrances into table settings were nothing short of inspiring.
Matthew Oliver provided the final touch, sharing his perspective on seamlessly integrating fragrance into the overall wedding aesthetic. His advice on accessories and tips ensured that scent would become an unforgettable element of the bride’s or groom’s ensemble.
The evolving tablescape, styled by Matthew Oliver, was an English Garden masterpiece of elegance, with Maison Margaux’s chic inspiration and Lavender Green’s stunning florals weaving a fragrant narrative that captivated all present. Little touches from We Are Lost Girls, such as bows that could be taken home as a bow tie or chic hair band, added to the charm, while Options Greathire provided the final touches.
The event spotlighted some of Jo Malone London’s most beloved fragrances: Wood Sage & Sea Salt, English Pear & Freesia, Peony & Blush Suede, and Orange Blossom. Each scent played a pivotal role in the evening’s ambiance, enhancing the beautifully styled setting.
The menu was an exquisite experience, perfectly paired with Monkey 47 cocktails to reflect the day’s featured fragrances. Guests indulged in sage-marinated sea bass with sage mayo, English asparagus, and sea fennel; beef fillet with pear, ginger, radicchio, and kefir lime; and a cherry and orange blossom pavlova.
The cocktails were a masterclass in mixology, featuring old fashioned-inspired drinks with sage-infused whiskey and salted caramel; tiki-style cocktails with cachaça, pear juice, and cinnamon, garnished with freesia flowers; and orange blossom daiquiris, perfectly paired with peony, lemon, green tea, and honey.
The evening was serenaded by harpist Olivia Jageurs playing Bridgerton tunes, while Hatty Pedder created exquisite keepsake paintings for the guests. The goodie bags were a delightful surprise, featuring a Jo Malone London box embossed with a sweet message. Inside, guests found a 100ml Peony & Blush Suede or English Pear & Freesia Cologne, a Wood Sage & Sea Salt Body Crème, and a Cypress & Grapevine Cologne Intense for their partners.
The evening showcased the magic and harmony of scent and style, brought together in a way that only Jo Malone London and The Wedding Edition could achieve. It was an event that left everyone enchanted, with memories to cherish and scents to remember.
