Clare Doggart is the owner of Doggart & Squash – a boutique caterer creating heavenly menus for events across the UK, and Hamish Malone works as a Sales Director at Morgan Lovell. The couple first met at Oxford Brookes and proposed in the dunes at Witterings, where Clare’s family is from. The wedding was a stunning spring wedding held in a spectacular marque in Petworth.
The best part of our day was….
Swimming in the sea the morning of the wedding, getting ready. Singing Watermelon Sugar as we walked into the marquee, not doing a first dance but one of our best friends singing “When you say nothing at all- Ronan Keating” and everyone singing along. Our amazing ceremony outside- ALL OF IT !
We choose to get married at…
One of our Ushers fields in Petworth, We wanted to have space and no restrictions and for Clare to be close to home so she could get ready there
I knew I found ‘The One’ when…
I went for a dress by Louise Selby. She called me as soon as I got engaged and went to see her with my mum. She cried when I put on the Daisy dress and that was it. Louise’s personal service and attention to detail made the whole process so lovely and the dress was so unique and suited Hamish’s velvet smoking jacket black tie style.
The most enjoyable moments of planning were…
Being able to work with all our lovely suppliers. I’ve always wanted to use the Folly Hire chairs and tables! We wanted to create a “classy spring” style wedding and more of party and celebration rather than a traditional wedding. Our celebrant was a dear friend who meant a lot to us leading it. She understood our style and the atmosphere was magical- being able to hear the birds singing we felt very peaceful.
Our wedding menu highlights were…
Being able to drink Gusbourne an English sparkling wine who uses grapes from the vineyards 5 mins away as well as in Kent. Using local British seasonal suppliers was a huge part of the menu making decisions and it was a joy to work with them all.
Being able to use our friends Bold Bean company in our main dish was very special!
Our first dance song was…
Did not have one- Our friend sang Ronan Keating and the whole room sang along too – a truly goosebumps moment!
My top three tips for any couple would be…
Enjoy the process and don’t get too hung up on the little things. On the day do not drink too much… until after the meal. Pick suppliers who suit you and your style, do not worry about how many followers or likes they have!
For our honeymoon we chose…
A road trip around the west coast of Ireland. We stayed different places each night and mainly for the food!
