Aimée Slaughter and Tobias Pritchard-Davies, live in London and met at work in 2015. The couple both work in property and share a love for food and wine. They excitingly got engaged in December 2020 and their wedding took place in October 2021 at one of the coolest wedding venues in London – Berry Bros and Rudd.
The best part of our day was….
Such a tricky question to answer – we loved it all! Of course, it was the first moment we saw each other at either end of the aisle, just before we said our vows and became husband and wife. A close second was the moment we went down to the cellars at Berry Bros and Rudd. We had an amazing team take control of the set up, so the first time we saw it was when we arrived at the venue – it was magical.
We choose to get married at…
The iconic Marylebone Old Town Hall followed by a reception at Berry Bros. & Rudd. London holds a very special place in our heart as it is where we met, got engaged and where we live, so it was really the only option we considered. We booked a Bespoke Wedding Consultation with The Wedding Edition and tasked the team with finding us a venue, taking into account that we are both real foodies and wine lovers… When Isabella and Kendra suggested the cellars at Berry Bros & Rudd we couldn’t think of a more ‘us’ venue. It was the perfect place for an effortlessly cool autumnal affair with a touch of real English Heritage.
I knew I found ‘The One’ when…
Dress fittings were sadly not allowed during lockdown, so I did a lot of browsing online, and relied a lot on deliveries from various online wedding dress suppliers to understand what styles I liked. Once it was announced shops were able to open I contacted Halfpenny London straight away and managed to get a fitting in early May. The boutique is the most amazing experience; a dressing up box of amazing designs, materials and perfect silks. I chose a bespoke dress, modelled off their beautiful Cheryl dress, as I wanted a dress which was unique to me. Their seamstresses were amazing, making a few rounds of alterations until it was absolutely perfect, I couldn’t recommend them more.
The most enjoyable moments of wedding planning was…
Definitely the food and wine tasting. We did this about 6 weeks before the wedding so it really started off the celebrations for us. We were totally spoiled by Berry Bros & Rudd, with a few bottles of wine and champagne to get through and the Head Chef, Stewart Turner, blowing us away with a selection of food choices. Stewart changes the menu so it includes seasonal produce and they pride themselves on creating a very British menu, which we loved. Stewart and his team didn’t disappoint on the day, with the food and wine being the highlight for many of our guests.
The hardest parts of planning were…
The restrictions owed to our dear friend Covid-19. Having got engaged during lockdown in December 2020, we knew that regardless of the pandemic we wanted to get married in 2021. The wedding was not about a big party for us, we just wanted to be husband and wife. The restrictions did however mean a delay to viewing and booking any venues, securing a date and starting the hunt for our wedding outfits so we essentially ended up planning a wedding in just 5 months.
The best accounts to follow on Instagram for big-day inspo are…
Obviously apart from The Wedding Edition I would recommend following wedding photographers. It may sound a little strange, but they capture real moments of real couples at real weddings and give you a huge amount of inspiration for your special day.
My top tip for any couple would be…
Make the day to your taste. We really wanted our day to feel special and unique to us, rather than following the trends of a more traditional wedding and we couldn’t be happier that we took the decision to do this.
If I was able to do it all over again, the one thing I would change is…
There isn’t anything- we loved every second of it.
