Why Palma?
My dream for my hen do was always to have a laid back weekend away with my close friends – boys as well as girls – without worrying about all the dynamics of a bigger group. We decided on a weekend Palma Hen Do to enjoy some early summer sunshine and searched for an easily accessible destination offering a mix of classy restaurants, laid back bars and beach clubs, all the tapas we could eat, and a sprinkle of culture.
The Palma Hen Do turned out to be the perfect balance of all of these, with more than enough fun to pack into one weekend.
Where we stayed…
We stayed at INNSIDE by Melia Palma Center, and it couldn’t have been more idyllic, especially with its rooftop pool and with views over the city and relaxed Balearic design, with tropical plants everywhere (my favourite). Our room had a picture-perfect little balcony to chill out on while getting ready. After arriving, we headed straight up to the rooftop pool to enjoy some rosé, and we were only a short walk away from the bustling centre of Palma which made it so easy for us to explore to our hearts’ content in the evening.
What we did…
We visited Nikki Beach Mallorca on Saturday which was incredible, and my friends surprised me with our own private cabana where we sipped champagne and strawberry daquiris in the sun while a DJ played chilled, Ibiza-style house music, which is my idea of a perfect day. Later on, as things got more lively in the pool area, we realised we definitely were not the only hen do there or the most raucous.
I personally enjoyed not having too regimented an itinerary, and being based in Palma we felt like we could be spontaneous and see where the moment took us, from exploring little boutique shops to stumbling on authentic local tapas joints and seafood restaurants.
Where we ate…
On the first night, we had dinner at Tree House by UM, an open-air restaurant in a stunning location in Palma’s marina, surrounded by yachts, with atmospheric music and views of the cathedral as the sun was setting. We ordered platters of fresh sushi and delicious cocktails, and the ambiance was perfectly on point; sophisticated yet fun. It was the perfect location to kick off the weekend, and we soon headed out to dance the night away in Palma’s cool, local bars. My Maid of Honour Jess took lots of photos on a black and white disposable camera that captured otherwise forgotten memories of the evening – an amazing idea.
What we packed…
On my Palma Hen Do, I loved having my moment to go all-out in all things white (although I soon remembered that white doesn’t mix well with espresso martinis). My favourite outfit of the weekend was definitely wearing the Nadine Merabi Darcie white pyjamas, which were so fun, glamorous and comfortable to wear to the bars. They are perfect to dress up with heels, and I loved the feather trims on the sleeves and hem. I also re-wore them for the morning of my wedding so it was great to be able to wear them again and re-live all the special memories.
My friends also gifted me a Six Stories Bride Embroidered cap and chic Pearl Bride Hair Bow, which made for ideal low-key hen do attire for the weekend, without being too fancy dress-like.
The best moment…
It sounds cliché, but just being in such a fabulous and happy place with all my favourite people, and us all having so much fun and laughter together, made my hen weekend perfect. My Maid of Honour Jess also compiled a book with the photos from the black and white disposable camera, which look so timeless and really captured all the special memories for me to treasure for years to come.
